Public Image
Internet has a n increasingly important place in the society of the 21st century… it is obvious to all. The e-inclusion is today at the center of all reflections about land management, economical development, help to the public, education, sustainable development... This also thanks to the Internet ventures of Autrans.
This e-inclusion happened very fast. Over 50 % of the French people have access to the Internet, their work methods and organization were influenced. Many could not conceive any more to book a train ticket other than on Internet or to live without exchanging photos and on-line videos or not to being able to speak at very low cost with families located on the other side of the world by MSN or Skype.
This conversion was boosted by pioneers who have for nearly 12 years their place of sharing and discovery: the Meetings of Autrans. For the world of the Internet, Autrans is not just a small town on the plateau of the Vercors region, it is the symbol of the mingling with other people who share the same passion of Internet to share their knowledge of the new technologies, the new methods … It s the place where the innovations of today and tomorrow are discussed.
Without the least nostalgia, after over 10 years, the organisers have asked MOKA a public image analysis to better know Autrans’ public image, its actual positioning and suggest possible evolutions.
Creation and image
The Autrans meetings have acquired over the last 11 years an image of a « national brand » that associates seriousness and conviviality, a meeting point for the actors of Internet in France. This national image has slightly overlapped onto two French speaking regions: Quebec and Wallonie.
Autrans is first and foremost the meeting place of the first Internet communities in France. This was at a time where few had perceived the stakes. It was important to meet up with each other, to share, to come every year or almost so as to assess any evolutions. This need is today far less important as, in all regions, assessments are numerous, access to information is much easier, Internet more performing.
Several initiatives have come to light in Autrans, most of all the “Internet celebration“. If relationships have sometimes been strenuous, the result of an emotional touch, they have never endangered the loyalty to Autrans:
- place for discovering new technologies
- place to test and practice new policies
- place of exchange, sharing, reflection and creativity.
